Local business Raid My Closet is becoming more popular with Adelaide women providing the latest runway fashion without breaking the bank.

The business rents out designer garments for temporary use and for a fraction of the cost of purchasing the outfit.

Founder Holly Allen is an independent business woman and designer of luxury sleepwear label The Notion. Allen owns and operates two clothing stores in Glen Osmond and says Raid My Closet was the product of her own passion for shopping.

Raid My Closet was built from my shopping addiction and is still very much fuelled by it,” Holly said.

“It is a service that I thought I would love to use myself which I think is always a great base for a business.”

The service enables women to choose from a large range of clothing and then return it after the event to save money and closet space on clothing that many women only wear once.

“I found that I was purchasing a new outfit almost every weekend,” Holly said.

Designer brands such as Bec and Bridge and Alice McCall can be ordered online or in store and customers are able to try items and rent them for up to five days for a fraction of the retail price.

“Our clients love the variety of clothes we stock,” she said.

“We focus on high fashion Australian labels such as Zimmermann, Sass and Bide, Maurie and Eve and Shakuhachi. They are the must have outfits that are appearing on catwalks of Australian fashion weeks.”

Many of the outfits available for rent at Raid My Closet are sold at boutiques around Adelaide.

Sales assistant at Niki Belle fashion boutique Rani Simone said clothing rental is a fantastic idea, especially if you have your heart set on wearing something outside your budget, but that shoppers should not neglect boutique shopping altogether.

“Nowadays many boutiques stock affordable styles which are inspired by high-end fashion,” she said.

“There is nothing better than having a piece in your wardrobe that you can style differently and wear again.”

The Raid My Closet collection ranges in price from $20 – $100.

“I love high-class fashion and that buyer’s high,” Holly said.

“I aim to bring that level of excitement to the shop in terms of women finding their perfect outfit for their special occasion”.
