Back to basics, preaches the fashion bible for Autumn/Winter 2013.

Leather, denim and monochromatic colours are going to be the hottest trends this winter.

State manager of fashion retailer Globalize, Stephanie Trace, says that white, grey and black will be the colours in her wardrobe this season, with a hint of leather and denim.

“White on white and black on black is the way to go this winter,” Ms Trace said.

The monochromatic colour blocking has found itself gracing the pages of top Adelaide fashion publications such as Attitude Magazine and The Urban Silhouette.

The Urban Silhouette, who proudly support Australian fashion, has been busy capturing the latest Adelaide designer trends for the coming season.

Editor April Clarke says metallic, classic leather and monochromatic dressing will be in this winter.

“I’m predicting a shift back to timeless, classic staple pieces,” Ms Clarke said.

“This winter I’m definitely loving leather pants,” she said.

Adelaide based label Cameo has released their latest collection, with a predominant presence of black and white hues, a hint of denim, and nylon in the form of puffy bomber vests.

Ms Trace says that the 90s fashion is making a comeback this season with bomber vests and denim domination.

“Definitely challenging that 90s washed out, thrashed vibe,” Ms Trace said.

Shop assistant of The Goodwill on Hindley Street, Leanne Davies says that business for pre-loved clothing and retro vintage is going well as fashion always repeats itself.

“Every era seems to be in fashion at the moment, everything goes,” Ms Davies said.

“Recently we have had a big demand for denim overalls.”

Although clothing is taking a ‘less is more’ approach for the season’s trends, accessories seem to be quite the contrary, with bold statement pieces lauded as must havesfor the coming season.

“Big statement jewellery pieces can never go wrong –  and giant cuffs, any kind of cuff,” Ms Clarke said.

There you have it, off the cuff – winter fashion is back to basics, with a statement splash of denim, leather or bold accessories.
